WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Students credited with this unit standard can identify and describe legislative rights and responsibilities for workplace health and safety; describe the systems approach to workplace health and safety; explain how risks and hazards are defined in the HSWA.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the completion of the course you will be able to:

Identify and describe legislative rights and responsibilities for workplace health and safety.

Describe the responsibilities of PCBU and workers under the HSWA and the worker's rights under the HSWA.

Describe the systems approach to workplace health and safety.

Explain how risks and hazards are defined in the HSWA.

Describe each principle of the risk assessment process in terms of workplace health and safety.

Identify and apply methods to control (hierarchy of controls) risk in the workplace in terms of elimination and minimising risks.
