HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE IN THE WORKPLACE SEMINAR

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course covers Regulation 4.5 of the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substance Regulations) 2017 as it outlines the obligations you have to ensure your workers have the knowledge and practical experience to work safely around hazardous substances/chemicals. Firstly, employers have a duty to provide information, training and instruction to every worker who uses, handles, manufactures, or stores hazardous substances.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

​

• Gain understanding of the Hazardous Substances Regulations, chemical classifications and signage

• Cover the use and need of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) under the Regulations

• Demonstrate knowledge around what PPE and First aid is needed for chemical handling and injuries

• Discuss the safe handling, use and storage of hazardous substances.

• Management of chemical spills

• Duties associated with notifiable accidents.

• Understand hazardous properties and the adverse effects of hazardous substances.

• Duties associated with management of chemical risks, emergency plans and provision of First aid at Work.

• Reviewing some case studies and fined issued under the Act
