HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND RISK ASSESSMENT (HARM)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is suitable for any person required to identify and manage risk within the workplace regardless of industry type.  We cover Risk management under identification, evaluation, and prioritization of risks followed by coordinated and economical application of resources to minimize, monitor, and control the probability or impact of unfortunate events to minimise the risk of harm to workers so that they can go home health and safe.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Explain the legislative duty for risk management in the workplace especially associated with critical risk as per Regulations

  • Gain an understanding of the rights and responsibilities for workplace health safety and wellbeing according to the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015

  • Understand the key differences between a hazard, a risk and a control methods

  • Ensure compliance with the main hazard and risk register of the PCBU

  • Use of a risk assessment tools documenting how you have managed the risk in the workplace or task

  • Use of permits and SSSP

  • Understand the use of the hierarchy of controls by eliminating hazards and minimising risks

  • Apply the risk management cycle within your workplace

  • Describe methods used to determine the effectiveness of controls such as near-misses, audits and incident/accident registers

Open 

Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments.
