INCIDENT INVESTIGATION

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The incident investigation course is designed for individuals involved in accident or incident inquiries and investigation from low to high level incidents. This course equips participants with practical tools and expertise to accurately document and analyse accidents, as well as establish preventive measures for future occurrences. Trainees will be instructed in the Incident Cause Analysis Model (ICAM), the preferred investigation approach among major companies in New Zealand for examining significant events.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand and explain why workplace accidents need to be reported and investigated.

  • Explain the concepts of multiple causation and root-cause analysis.

  • Detail an incident investigation process using a hypothetical incident.

  • Implement control measures to prevent re-occurrence and are specified based upon the outcome of the investigation

Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments.
