WORKING WITH CHEMICALS IN THE WORKPLACE
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
People credited with this course are able to demonstrate knowledge of: – hazardous substances in a workplace and their potential adverse effects; and – a workplace’s procedures to prevent adverse effects of hazardous substances. Ideal for contractors, first time users managing and handling chemicals in the workplace.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the completion of the course you will be able to:

Demonstrate knowledge of hazardous substances in a workplace and their potential adverse effects

Identify hazardous substances in a workplace that could cause adverse effects

Describe the potential adverse effects using information in SDS and on labels or signage

Demonstrate knowledge of a workplace’s procedures to prevent adverse effects of hazardous substances

Describe the workplace procedure for dealing with situations where a substance or container is unmarked or unlabelled
-
Identify a workplace’s emergency procedures and describe the response information for a hazardous substance related emergency
NZQA UNITS:
No units are attached to this course. This course follows content guidelines and meets the requirements of the Hazardous Substance Regulation 2017 Regulation 4.5 (3) for Workplaces , interpretation of SDS and Legislative Requirements.
