WORKPLACE HAZARD AND RISK MANAGEMENT (HARM)
COURSE DESCRIPTION:

People credited with this course are able to identify and describe legislative rights and responsibilities for workplace health and safety; describe the systems approach to workplace health and safety; describe the principles of health and safety risk assessment and explain how risks and hazards are defined in the HSWA. Students will practically need to apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry good practice by completing a risk assessment tool on the course.

At the completion of the course you will be able to:

Identify and describe legislative rights and responsibilities for workplace health and safety.

Describe the principles of health and safety risk assessment.

Apply health and safety risk assessment to a job role in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry good practice.

Describe the systems approach to workplace health and safety.

Explain how risks and hazards are defined in the HSWA.

Describe each principle of the risk assessment process in terms of workplace health and safety. (IACMR)

Identify hazards in the workplace using a hazard identification procedure/tools example job safety analysis, area analysis, behaviour. analysis, standard operating procedures, safe work methods.

Assess risks in the workplace. (Risk Matrix).

Identify and apply methods to control (hierarchy of controls) risk in the workplace.

Identify and apply methods to monitor risk management in the workplace.

Identify methods to review the risk management process.

Open
Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments.
Students must be able to kneel on the floor to perform CPR functions. If you have students with physical limitations, please contact us to discuss.
