CONSTRUCTION SITE SAFETY AND ACCESS
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
People credited with this course will gain knowledge of health and safety legislation relating to the building and construction sites and will be able to identify and describe the risk factors that contribute to harm on construction sites; and demonstrate knowledge of the economical, physical and psychological consequences of harm and will learn the organisational health and safety procedures and how to apply the health and safety procedures to the building construction site.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the completion of the course you will be able to:

Identify and describe the risk factors that contribute to harm on construction sites.

Identify and describe the effects of the combinations of personal and external risk factors in terms of how they influence the circumstances of the harm.

Demonstrate knowledge of the economical, physical, and psychological consequences of harm.

Demonstrate knowledge of the organisation’s health and safety procedures relevant to a building construction site.

Identify personal protective equipment (PPE) for the workplace and describe its correct use in accordance with the organisation’s procedures.

Explain event and near miss notification procedures in accordance with the organisation’s procedures.

Explain the purpose of workplace emergency procedures in accordance with the organisation’s procedures.

Apply the organisation’s health and safety procedures under supervision for a building construction site to either a near miss or a workplace event

ENTRY CRITERIA:
Open
Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments.
Students must be able to kneel on the floor to perform CPR functions. If you have students with physical limitations, please contact us to discuss.
