FIRST AID RESPONDER IN THE WORKPLACE

First Responder in the Workplace has been a popular course for many companies who want to meet their first aid responsibilities under WorkSafe requirements without the stress of any formal assessment of their staff.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

​

Individuals certified in this course possess the skills to: administer prompt first aid, perform basic life support including CPR, address foreign body airway obstructions, manage life-threatening bleeding, administer first aid for shock, burns, and fractures, and assist individuals experiencing medical emergencies.

​

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

​

At the completion of the course you will be able to:

​

  • Perform a Primary assessment. (DRSABCD)

  • Able to demonstrate Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) – adult, child and infant.

  • Assist with Foreign body airway obstruction (choking) – adult, child and infant.

  • Acquire and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

  • Identify and control bleeding

  • Manage basic cuts and bruises

  • Care for workers with head and spinal injuries.

  • Identify and manage medical conditions at work for example chest pain, asthma ect

  • Assist workers with trauma injuries, impaled objects and burns

  • Identify and manage environmental conditions at work

NZQA UNITS:

No units are attached to this course. This course follows content guidelines and meets the requirements of WorkSafe NZ - Workplace First Aid as published in their good practice guidelines for First Aid for Workplaces.
